Job Title: Accounting Assistant  
Job Type: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Department: Finance and Administrative Services 
Reports to: Accounting Manager
Schedule:  In-person - Full Time, Monday to Friday 9:00AM to 6:00PM (office hours)
Job Location:  San Diego, CA  
Job Summary:  
Support accounting processes by performing general accounting administrative duties as assigned in accordance with departmental and company guidelines and standards. 
Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Handles filing, scanning, and data entry
  • Assists in verifying reports and updating databases
  • Assists with various finance department projects as assigned
  • Assists A/P and A/R with daily recording and balancing
  • Bank Account, Accrued Expenses, Fixed Asset, and Prepaid reconciliations
  • Dues Processing
  • Deposits
  • Contributes to team effort by providing backup and assistance to accounting department when needed
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of organization and general administration.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting procedures and principles.
  • Ethical behavior when dealing with sensitive financial information.
  • Proficient in organization and planning.
  • Computer literacy and strong typing skills, experience with accounting software may be required.
  • Willingness to comply with all company, local, state, and federal financial regulations.
  • Ability to research and analyze financial data.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Exceptional internal and external customer service.
  • Exceptional phone etiquette
  • Proficient in teamwork, teambuilding, and motivating others.
  • Flexible and efficient
  • Great writing skills, problem-solving skills, and prioritization.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to, computers, printers, fax, scanners, telephone systems, calculators.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Preferred Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:
  • Pursuing or completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; at least one year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience in QuickBooks desired
  • Excellent computer skills, especially typing.
  • Desire to be proactive and create a positive experience for others.
  • Bilingual a plus. (Spanish or Vietnamese) 
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license, auto insurance that covers business driving, and an automobile for business use.
  • Willingness to travel, and ability to work flexible hours and work long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
